Minister of Housing, Utilities, and Urban Communities Sherif El-Sherbiny emphasized the importance of accelerating work on the Fustat Hills Gardens project in Old Cairo to ensure its completion according to the set timeline. This was stated during a meeting with the chairpersons and vice chairpersons of the companies executing the 500-acre project. The minister highlighted the role of national companies in Egypt’s urban development and reaffirmed his commitment to monitoring progress and coordinating with all stakeholders to ensure the project’s advancement.
During the meeting, the Minister of Housing urged company officials and the project team to maintain a strong on-site presence, identify the remaining elements, monitor supply chain status, and assess workforce levels. He stressed the need to establish weekly schedules to evaluate performance and to hold regular meetings between the project team and representatives of each company individually to assess ongoing work and expedite progress. Additionally, he recommended continuing work during holidays to accelerate project completion.
The minister also listened to company representatives’ input regarding the current activities and plans for the coming period and updates on resolving observations noted during his recent site visit. He underscored the necessity of expediting work schedules and increasing the pace of operations to complete the project while assuring full support for its implementation.
It is worth noting that the Fustat Hills Gardens project covers an area of 500 acres and is being developed in the heart of historic Cairo. It is considered one of the most extensive gardens in the Middle East, featuring various activities to revive cultural heritage.
