Engineer Sherif El Shorbiny, the Minister of Housing, met with deputies, assistants of the Urban Communities Authority, and heads of the new city authorities to follow up on work progress and enhance performance levels. He emphasized the importance of the meeting in exchanging experiences, discussing current projects, and planning for future developments. He also highlighted the role of each city authority head as a representative of their colleagues and the ministry’s face.
The minister stressed the importance of implementing projects per President Abdel Fattah El Sisi’s directives regarding industrial localization. He insisted on relying on local products in all projects and enhancing resources and revenues. He also pointed out the necessity for city authority heads to report any issues immediately upon occurrence to prevent their escalation. He underlined the significance of continuous corrections for incorrect situations. Furthermore, performance evaluation standards for authority heads and assistants will be established, and plans will be made to train and qualify the staff.
During the meeting, Engineer Sherif El Shorbiny instructed the authority heads to establish a governance management unit within each authority, selecting employees carefully to ensure task completion. He also emphasized the benefit of digital transformation in the authorities’ dealings with citizens and the need for officials to be present on-site to visit ongoing projects. The minister tasked the authority heads with identifying their needs, monitoring ongoing works, overcoming obstacles, and increasing work rates. He stressed the importance of regular follow-up and evaluating executing companies, handling non-serious companies, and focusing on road maintenance, lighting work, and urban axis development.
The Minister of Housing clarified that the current phase focuses on launching new projects and initiatives, including the “Your Home in Egypt” initiative for Egyptians abroad while ensuring the completion of units within the specified deadlines and the highest quality standards. The discussion also covered new housing projects, including 100,000 housing units under the “Housing for All Egyptians” initiative, emphasizing the importance of their timely implementation and planning for future projects.
