Engineer Sherif El-Sherbiny, Minister of Housing, Utilities, and Urban Communities, conducted an inspection tour of the Heritage City in New Alamein. He was accompanied by Dr. Rania Al-Mashat, Minister of Planning and International Cooperation, Dr. Manal Awad, Minister of Local Development, Alaa Farouk, Minister of Agriculture and Land Reclamation, Dr. Sherif Farouk, Minister of Supply and Internal Trade, and Major General Khaled Shuaib, Governor of Matrouh.
At the start of the tour, the ministers received a detailed briefing from Engineer Ahmed Ibrahim, Head of the New Alamein City Authority, about the features of the Heritage City. The central area, known as the “Plaza,” includes a square with a central Pharaonic obelisk, surrounded by a variety of landmarks such as traditional-style shops, a heritage mosque, a church, a cinema complex, a Roman theater, an opera house, and more.
Comprehensive information was also provided regarding the key features of these projects, those that are already operational, and the timeline for completing the remaining developments.
The ministers expressed their admiration for the achievements they witnessed in the Heritage City and praised the efforts being made to develop New Alamein City. They noted that the city stands as one of the fourth-generation cities currently being implemented by the Ministry of Housing in alignment with Egypt’s national vision to expand urban communities and establish modern, advanced cities.
