Eng. Sherif El-Sherbiny, Minister of Housing, Utilities, and Urban Communities, conducted an inspection tour of the “Fustat Hills Gardens” project, which spans 500 acres in the Old Cairo district. He was accompanied by Maj. Gen. Eng. Mahmoud Nassar, Head of the Central Agency for Reconstruction, as well as officials from the ministry and the companies responsible for executing the project.
During the tour, the Minister reviewed the preparations for the 2025 Fustat Hills Garden Winter Festival, emphasizing the need to provide all forms of support to ensure the event is delivered in a manner that reflects its intended goals.
The tour included an inspection of various areas of the project, starting with the investment zone, which covers 131,000 square meters overlooking the Ain Al-Hayah Lake. This area includes several restaurants, commercial malls, car parks, and facilities designated for hosting official events such as the Roman theater, a water fountain, and aesthetic landscaping areas. It also features the adventure zone, which contains lakes and service facilities such as a children’s play building, a service building, restrooms, and wide spaces dedicated to landscaping and infrastructure.

The Minister then proceeded to follow up on the progress of the cultural zone and the river zone. The cultural zone is located near the project’s main entrance on Salah Salem Road and is distinguished by its central axis connected to the National Museum of Egyptian Civilization. The area also includes plazas for cultural activities, restaurants, and additional service facilities. It features a main gate and various amenities including eateries, cafeterias, and landscaped spaces.
The tour also covered the hills and valleys area, which consists of three different elevations connected by waterways and terraces, offering stunning natural views that include Salah El-Din Citadel and the Pyramids. This area includes distinctive elements such as “Qasaba Hill,” which features a tourist hotel, artificial ponds, a cafeteria, and waterfalls.
It also includes “Excavations Hill,” currently being developed into an archaeological and tourist site that reflects the historical fabric of ancient Fustat, with walking paths linking service facilities to the overall site. Additionally, the area features the “Heritage Garden Hill,” equipped with restaurants and seating areas overlooking the lake, along with open spaces suitable for hosting various events.
The Minister concluded his tour by inspecting the market zone, which extends over 60,000 square meters and aims to support traditional and handicraft industries such as glassmaking, ceramics, weaving, and textiles, contributing to the activation of local economy and tourism. The area is being developed in three phases and includes commercial shops, service facilities catering to visitors’ needs—such as a three-star hotel—along with artificial lakes and designated agricultural spaces.
