Minister of Housing, Utilities, and Urban Communities, Engineer Sherif El-Sherbiny, inspected the implementation of road and utility networks in the expansions of Sheikh Zayed City, covering an area of 8,336 feddans near the Cairo–Alexandria Desert Road, accompanied by officials from the ministry and the New Urban Communities Authority.
The minister reviewed the projects in the area, where the legalization of land plots has been completed, decisions for integrated urban projects have been issued, and the main water pipeline with a diameter of 1200 mm has been executed and water pumped. In addition, the electricity distribution project for the area has been finalized and power supply activated. The first phase of a water reservoir and pumping station with a capacity of 36,000 cubic meters is currently underway, alongside ongoing road and utility network works.
The works include water, sewage, and irrigation networks with a total length ranging from 88 to 113 km and varying diameters, as well as road networks stretching 90 km, implemented in successive stages. The minister directed the rapid completion of projects while adhering to technical standards and specifications and closely monitoring accurate implementation.
El-Sherbiny affirmed that the master plan for the area aims to provide diverse investment opportunities and transform it into an integrated urban community that rivals the existing Sheikh Zayed City, through multi-use urban, commercial, and investment activities.
