Engineer Sherif El-Sherbiny, Minister of Housing, Utilities, and Urban Communities, conducted a tour yesterday in Obour City, where he inspected the Rawdat Al-Obour Housing Project and the city’s drinking water station. He was accompanied by several officials from the ministry, the New Urban Communities Authority, and project representatives, in addition to the Drinking Water and Wastewater Regulatory Agency and the Holding Company for Drinking Water and Wastewater.
During his visit to the Rawdat Al-Obour Housing Project site, which consists of 134 residential buildings in the Al-Salam Thani district, the minister inspected one of the housing units, praising the level of finishing and design. The project includes 4,171 residential units, 475 administrative units, and 382 commercial units, as well as service projects, including a primary school with a capacity of 66 classrooms, which has already been operational, and a secondary school with 33 classrooms, along with bakeries, a nursery, and a medical center.
Engineer Sherif El-Sherbiny also visited the drinking water purification station in Obour City, where he received a detailed explanation of the station’s operating mechanism. The station has a capacity of up to one million cubic meters daily. He also reviewed the ongoing expansion works, which make it one of the largest water stations in the country. It supplies several cities and neighboring areas, including New Cairo, Obour City, New Obour, Badr City, Al-Salam City, and Al-Nahda City.
The Minister of Housing toured the station’s various components, monitored its operations, and inspected the expansion works in phases four and five. He emphasized the importance of monitoring and evaluating the station’s operation and maintenance processes and primary intake system. He stressed the need to complete all efficiency improvement works to ensure the highest service quality and to perform maintenance by standard specifications.
