Engineer Sherif El-Sherbini, Minister of Housing, Utilities, and Urban Communities, along with Major General Khaled Shuaib, Governor of Matrouh, concluded their tour with a visit to the wastewater treatment plant expansion project in Marsa Matrouh.
The plant aims to achieve a treatment capacity of 30,000 cubic meters per day, expandable to 60,000 cubic meters per day, using advanced tertiary treatment technology in addition to the plant’s current phase. Several officials from the ministry and the governorate also participated in the tour.
During the visit, the Minister and the Governor received a detailed explanation of the project’s components, which include the expansion of the main treatment plant, the establishment of three pumping stations—two main and one subsidiary—in addition to an 11 km seepage line, 10.2 km of force mains, and 82.4 km of gravity sewer networks.

The project is designed to serve around 120,000 residents in Marsa Matrouh City, while also utilizing the treated water through tertiary treatment at the proposed site for agricultural investment projects, covering an area of 2,140 feddans, as part of the “Afforestation Project.”
