Minister of Housing Inspects Drinking Water Projects under the Decent Life Initiative in Kafr El-Sheikh

Engineer Sherif El-Sherbiny, Minister of Housing and Utilities, visited Kafr El-Sheikh Governorate following his inspection tour in Alexandria to review drinking water and sanitation projects being implemented under the presidential “Decent Life” initiative. The visit was attended by Major General Dr. Alaa Abdel-Moaty, Governor of Kafr El-Sheikh, along with officials from the Ministry of Housing and the National Organization for Potable Water and Sanitary Drainage (NOPWASD). During the visit, the Minister and the Governor reviewed the progress of projects scheduled through 2025, including 7 projects in the Metoubes area and projects across four other centers as part of the second phase of the initiative.

The Minister of Housing emphasized the importance of coordination with executive bodies in Kafr El-Sheikh to expedite project completion. He called for continuous on-site monitoring to overcome challenges and ensure that the projects are delivered according to technical specifications, particularly those under the “Decent Life” initiative. Following this, the Minister and the Governor visited the wastewater treatment plant in Qamseyoun village, where they listened to a detailed briefing on the project’s components and stages. They also inspected the treatment units, aeration basins, and collection tanks.

Engineer Sherif El-Sherbiny affirmed that the project aims to deliver integrated sanitation services to rural villages and areas in line with directives from the political leadership. He highlighted the Ministry’s commitment to closely monitor the execution of these projects to guarantee their quality. On his part, Major General Dr. Alaa Abdel-Moaty, Governor of Kafr El-Sheikh, stated that the project is vital for improving the living standards of citizens by providing essential infrastructure. He noted that the Qamseyoun treatment plant represents a qualitative leap in public services and stressed the importance of adhering to the project’s timeline to quickly serve the residents of the Metoubes center.

The visit was attended by Mr. Mohamed Raafat, Assistant Governor of Kafr El-Sheikh; Major General Hatem El-Heidaby, Head of Metoubes Center and City; along with a number of executive leaders from the Ministry of Housing and Kafr El-Sheikh Governorate.
