Engineer Sherif El-Sherbiny, Minister of Housing, Utilities, and Urban Communities, inaugurated the activities of the International Drinking Water, Wastewater, and Infrastructure Technology Conference and Exhibition (IWWI 2025), held in New Cairo from 23 to 25 November 2025 with the participation of more than 100 local and international companies.
The event is held under the patronage of the Ministries of Housing, Environment, and the German Ministry of Economy, in cooperation with the Holding Company for Water and Wastewater.
The Minister visited several pavilions, where he reviewed advanced technologies in water treatment and smart control showcased in the German pavilion. He also inspected locally manufactured alternatives to imported products at the pavilions of the Ministry of Housing and the Ministry of Military Production. In addition, he observed AI-based technologies used to enhance the efficiency of water networks and reduce losses, presented by the Greater Cairo Water Company.

The tour included a review of technologies for the production of high-strength ceramic pipes, water purification plants, wastewater treatment units, and mechanical and electrical design systems. The Minister emphasized that the event aligns with Egypt’s Vision 2030, supporting innovation and technological advancement in managing water resources and improving service efficiency through cooperation between the public and private sectors.
The Minister praised the progress of the Egyptian companies participating in the event, noting that the exhibition serves as an effective platform for exchanging expertise and showcasing advanced technologies of international quality. He also highlighted the National Water Strategy 2037, which focuses on rationalizing consumption and improving water quality.
Dr. Sayed Ismail, Deputy Minister of Housing, pointed out that digital transformation and the integration of artificial intelligence are becoming fundamental pillars in developing the water sector. Meanwhile, Engineer Ahmed Gaber emphasized the importance of enhancing capabilities and encouraging international cooperation through the pavilion dedicated to the Holding Company.
Frank Bauman, CEO of Expotech Group, expressed his pride in organizing the exhibition in Egypt, noting that it reflects strong Egyptian-German cooperation and contributes to achieving sustainable development goals. The exhibition spans 10,000 square meters, making it a global hub for innovation and collaboration in the water sector.
