Engineer Sherif El-Sherbiny, Minister of Housing, Utilities, and Urban Communities, visited the headquarters of the General Authority for Tourism Development to follow up on workflow and overcome obstacles, in the presence of Dr. Mostafa Mounir, the Authority’s Executive Director, and ministry officials.
The minister began the meeting by praising the Authority’s role in supporting the economy and the tourism sector, stressing the importance of strengthening its role to attract more investments. He also noted that an Assistant to the Minister of Housing has been assigned to support cooperation between the New Urban Communities Authority and the Tourism Development Authority, especially with the presence of lands designated for tourism activities.
The minister emphasized the need to establish a clear vision and organized work mechanisms with developers and investors, as well as enhancing services at affiliated offices while providing training programs to improve the Authority’s performance.

For his part, Dr. Mostafa Mounir reviewed the Authority’s achievements, noting the growth in revenues since its affiliation was transferred to the Ministry of Housing in 2021, reaching EGP 5.28 billion in the fiscal year 2024/2025.
Dr. Mounir also highlighted the progress of the Authority’s executive operations, which include 115 tourism centers, the implementation of 109,392 tourism housing units, in addition to 503 limited-development projects and 66 integrated development projects. He also mentioned completed and ongoing hotel rooms with an approved investment capacity estimated at EGP 3.125 trillion.
Efforts to reclaim land and withdraw non-serious projects were also reviewed, with 34 land plots retrieved, along with updates regarding human resources and the Authority’s organizational structure.
The minister concluded the meeting by thanking the team for their efforts and reaffirming his full support for strengthening the Authority’s role in the future.
