Engineer Sherif El-Sherbiny, Minister of Housing, Utilities, and Urban Communities, held a meeting yesterday evening to review the progress of projects implemented by the ministry as part of the “Decent Life” presidential initiative for developing the Egyptian countryside. Several officials from the ministry, the Central Agency for Reconstruction, the Water and Wastewater Regulatory Agency and Consumer Protection, the National Authority for Drinking Water and Sanitation, Arab Contractors, and the consulting office attended the meeting.
Engineer Sherif El-Sherbiny opened the meeting by emphasizing the importance of projects under the “Decent Life” presidential initiative due to their direct impact on citizens’ lives. He highlighted how these projects improve the quality of life and provide various services in the targeted villages. He also stressed his commitment to continuously monitoring different projects, including water and wastewater utility projects and service facilities, while working to resolve any challenges or obstacles that may hinder their implementation.
The Minister of Housing confirmed that ongoing efforts are being made to implement the directives of the political leadership regarding the increased reliance on local products in project execution and the local manufacturing of components. He instructed all entities affiliated with the ministry working on the “Decent Life” initiative to prioritize local products, emphasizing the necessity of completing the projects according to the designated timelines.
Engineer Sherif El-Sherbiny also stressed the importance of assessing all requirements and focusing on maintaining existing projects to ensure their sustainability. He directed the intensification of plans and efforts and closely monitored project details related to water and wastewater or service facilities. He emphasized the need to track completion rates to ensure projects are finished and put into service, ultimately benefiting the residents of the targeted villages.
