Shereef El Sherbiny, Minister of Housing, Utilities, and Urban Communities, reviewed the latest updates and procedures regarding the creation of two new units under the New Urban Communities Authority: the Real Estate Market Regulation Unit and the Egyptian Property Export Unit. The meeting was held in the presence of officials from the Ministry of Housing and the Authority.
In an official statement, the Minister emphasized that the meeting aimed to present the proposed visions for the work of both units, in order to achieve the goals for which they were established. He pointed out that these proposals will be shared with private sector developers to gather their feedback and ideas, as they will play an active role as representatives within the units, participating in decision-making and contributing their expertise.
During the meeting, the Minister presented the vision and operational framework of the Real Estate Market Regulation Unit. This includes stakeholders such as real estate brokers and developers, as well as aspects related to marketing, regular maintenance, registration procedures with the unit, and evaluation and monitoring of registered entities.
He also discussed the core functions of the Real Estate Market Regulation Unit, which encompass: registration and licensing, oversight and monitoring, the “Egypt Real Estate Platform,” a professional classification system for companies and brokers, in addition to training programs, professional certifications, regulatory guidelines for marketing and brokerage firms, complaint systems, and public awareness campaigns.
Additionally, the meeting covered the key functions of the Egyptian Property Export Unit. These include promoting Egyptian real estate in regional and international markets, organizing or participating in international property exhibitions, handling inquiries from foreign investors, and other tasks aimed at supporting the property export agenda and attracting investors.
At the conclusion of the meeting, Engineer Shereef El Sherbiny affirmed that the goal of establishing both units is to build a comprehensive database of all real estate market components and to strengthen the property export initiative. He stressed the importance of developing a holistic vision with the participation of all stakeholders, including developers, to define strategies, goals, and implementation mechanisms that will ensure the achievement of these objectives.
