Engineer Sherif El-Sherbiny, Minister of Housing, Utilities, and Urban Communities, held a meeting at the headquarters of the New Obour City Authority to review the latest updates regarding the land legalization process in New Obour and El Shorouk Cities, as well as to discuss the implementation status of the ongoing projects in both cities. The meeting was attended by officials from the ministry, the New Urban Communities Authority, along with the heads of the two city authorities.
The minister began the meeting by stressing his commitment to closely follow up on all ongoing projects on the ground in order to be fully aware of the details of the work and files under progress. He highlighted that land legalization is among the ministry’s top priorities and emphasized the importance of carefully verifying the accuracy of submitted data, while setting a clear timeline for completing the review of all applications and handing over the land accordingly.
During the meeting, the main policy committee unit responsible for land legalization in New Obour City presented a report. The discussion included a review of around 94,000 submitted applications, in addition to the status of land plots that have been handed over and those still in the process of delivery. The presentation also shed light on the implementation progress of infrastructure works for the newly added lands included in the city’s general development plan.

In the same context, the minister reviewed the report from the main policy committee unit on land legalization in El Shorouk City. The report indicated that nearly 20,000 legalization applications had been registered, while a lottery had been prepared for 1,900 applications. Around 700 applications had already been handed over and allocated. The discussion also covered the status of infrastructure works for the city’s designated lands.
The meeting concluded with directives from the minister for continuous follow-up and the preparation of monthly reports containing clear timelines and specific objectives. The reports are to cover the status of file reviews and the progress achieved in terms of land delivery and allocation, along with updates on the infrastructure works for the newly added lands to ensure tangible progress in both cities.
