Engineer Sherif El-Sherbiny, Minister of Housing, affirmed that the draft law governing the rules and procedures for the disposition of state-owned property aims to systematically and fairly address encroachments on state lands. The law provides a legal framework to regularize the status of serious land occupants while safeguarding both citizens’ rights and those of the state. It also contributes to improved governance in managing real estate assets and ensures their utilization for developmental purposes.
The law includes specific regulations to control the legalization process, grants governors clear authorities to expedite application decisions, and allows citizens the right to appeal through specialized legal committees with full access to judicial recourse.
The Minister emphasized that the draft law will generate financial returns dedicated to supporting public projects across various governorates, thereby enhancing services and promoting local development. His remarks came during a House of Representatives session dedicated to discussing the draft law on the rules and procedures related to state-owned properties, attended by the Ministers of Parliamentary Affairs and Local Development.
Engineer Sherif El-Sherbiny highlighted the importance of the draft law in ending the unregulated practices of land appropriation and offering legal opportunities for committed applicants. He also reaffirmed the Ministry of Housing’s commitment to enforcing the law’s provisions in coordination with relevant authorities, in order to protect state assets and enable citizens to benefit from legalization opportunities.
