Engineer Sherif El-Sherbiny, Minister of Housing, Utilities, and Urban Communities, held a meeting with Major General Tarek El-Weshahy, Director of the Water Department at the Armed Forces Engineering Authority, and his accompanying delegation. The meeting aimed to follow up on joint work files that include water stations and wastewater treatment plants, with the goal of strengthening cooperation and ensuring continuous development.
The meeting was attended by officials from the Ministry, the New Urban Communities Authority, the Holding Company for Water and Wastewater, the Executive Organization for Drinking Water and Wastewater, and the National Authority for Drinking Water and Wastewater.
At the beginning of the meeting, Engineer Sherif El-Sherbiny stressed the importance of continuous monitoring and joint collaboration to meet drinking water needs. He emphasized that these files are a top priority for the state. The discussions also covered the current status of several joint projects related to wastewater treatment plants.

The meeting focused on the third phase of the expansion project of the Gabal El-Asfar wastewater treatment plant, which aims to increase the plant’s capacity. Attendees also reviewed the strategic plans developed by the Ministry of Housing for implementing water desalination projects.
The talks also addressed several proposals regarding the operation mechanisms of desalination plants in cooperation with private sector companies specialized in implementation, management, and operation. In addition, emphasis was placed on the need to upgrade existing plants to maximize their efficiency.
Participants highlighted the importance of setting clear timelines for the implementation of targeted projects and for meeting current and future needs related to the development of the water and wastewater sector.
