Engineer Sherif El-Sherbiny, Minister of Housing, Utilities, and Urban Communities, chaired a meeting of the Board of Directors of the General Authority for Tourism Development to discuss recent updates within the authority and follow up on the implementation of tourism development projects. The meeting was attended by members of the Board of Directors, some via video conference, along with officials from the Ministry of Housing.
During the session, emphasis was placed on the authority’s efforts to enhance the use of financial resources in line with rational spending policies and positive expenditure standards that support its operational plan. A quarterly report was presented outlining the volume of projects under implementation up to June 2025. These include 569 major projects, 503 limited-scope projects, and 66 integrated projects comprising 1,138 sub-projects. Discussions also covered the status of hotel capacities, both completed and under construction, in key areas such as the Red Sea, Gulf of Aqaba, Ras Sudr, and Ain Sokhna.

The meeting also reviewed the outcomes of the initiative launched by the Board of Directors to facilitate debt repayment, in addition to a detailed report on the authority’s digital transformation project. The report outlined a two-phase plan: the first phase focuses on fully automating the workflow within the authority, while the second phase targets the pilot operation of the electronic platform.
Further discussions addressed the preparation and updating of master plans for tourist centers. The presentation included updates to existing center plans as well as future visions for promising projects in the tourism sector.
