The Deqmeira Water Treatment Plant is part of the second phase of the “Decent Life” initiative, which aims to develop Egyptian villages and improve living standards. The plant was inaugurated with a production capacity of 10,000 cubic meters per day, in the presence of Major General Dr. Alaa Abdel-Motty, Governor of Kafr El-Sheikh, along with several officials from the Ministry of Housing and the governorate, as part of the state’s plan to strengthen drinking water services across the provinces.

During the inauguration, the Minister of Housing directed that regular maintenance efforts must continue to preserve the high quality of service and ensure optimal, long-term benefit from the significant investments made in the project. He stressed the role of the Ministry of Housing in supporting infrastructure projects that contribute to achieving sustainable development goals and providing a dignified life for citizens, particularly in the water and sanitation sectors.
For his part, the Governor of Kafr El-Sheikh emphasized the importance of cooperation between the ministry and the governorate to support vital projects that meet citizens’ basic needs. He considered the opening of the Deqmeira Plant a major step forward in improving service quality across the villages and rural communities in the governorate, extending his appreciation to the Minister of Housing for his continued support of infrastructure development projects.
The governor noted that the plant will help improve water flow and increase efficiency in the beneficiary areas. He explained that project implementation is proceeding according to the approved timelines to ensure the highest quality of services for citizens. He also praised the efforts of all parties involved in providing a facility that effectively meets community needs.
The inauguration was attended by representatives from entities such as the Holding Company for Water and Wastewater, the National Authority for Drinking Water and Sanitation, and Kafr El-Sheikh Water Company, in addition to representatives from civil society. The event reaffirms the state’s commitment to continuing efforts to enhance service levels and support essential infrastructure projects for the benefit of citizens.
