Minister of Housing: Continued Facilitation of Penalty Waivers for Housing Finance Units

Sherif El-Sherbiny, Minister of Housing, Utilities, and Urban Communities, announced the continuation of special facilitations for settling overdue financial dues. A 70% exemption from late payment penalties has been approved, provided that all outstanding dues are paid in full. These facilitations apply to residential, professional, administrative units, as well as commercial shops and villas affiliated with the Housing Finance Fund. This offer will remain valid until the end of August.

The Minister emphasized that these measures reflect the state’s strategic vision to support development and ease burdens on citizens, in alignment with the political leadership’s efforts to balance developmental needs with individual welfare.

Hesham Darwish, Advisor to the Ministry and Supervisor of the Construction and Contracting Sector as well as Chairman of the Housing Finance Fund, explained that these facilitations are a response to citizen demands. Many have submitted requests for new solutions regarding the settlement of their financial obligations to the Fund. He added that this initiative helps offer an opportunity for clients wishing to rectify their financial status, by establishing clear implementation rules that promote economic stability and make the process more effective.

Darwish clarified that the facilitations apply to residential, professional, administrative units, shops, and villas involved in ongoing legal disputes or preliminary or appellate rulings. The condition for eligibility is the full cash payment of the unit’s value along with all associated legal and administrative expenses and any additional costs.

He pointed out that these facilitations do not apply to clients who have filed lawsuits against the Fund unless they officially withdraw all pending legal actions. Additionally, the exemptions do not cover units, villas, or shops that have been issued cancellation decisions or final binding rulings. These cases are subject to the Housing Fund’s property regulations and the decisions of the Fund’s Board of Directors.
