Engineer Sherif El-Sherbiny, Minister of Housing, Utilities, and New Urban Communities, has announced the issuance of the first fully electronic building permit from the New Cairo City Authority. This step is part of the ministry’s ongoing efforts to complete the digital transformation across various sectors in alignment with the state’s vision.
El-Sherbiny explained that this initiative aims to maximize the benefits of the advanced infrastructure that the state has developed over the past years, particularly in the communications sector.
The minister directed officials of the New Urban Communities Authority to facilitate service delivery for citizens and investors while focusing on improving performance across different services. These efforts fall within the Ministry of Housing’s digital transformation strategy, including launching an electronic system for receiving building permit applications. In this context, several officials conducted an inspection tour to monitor the progress of work at the Citizen Service Technology Center and the licensing and real estate departments in New Cairo City.
Engineer Abdel Raouf El-Ghaity emphasized the authority’s efforts to improve citizen services by implementing electronic signatures for all permits submitted through the online portal. This development reduces processing time and simplifies the permit issuance process. Additionally, Engineer Khaled Sorour and Abdel Raouf El-Ghaity met with residents of the Janna compound to discuss their suggestions and requests, listening to their concerns and directing the relevant teams to resolve them as soon as possible within the authority’s work plan.
