Engineer Sherif El-Shorbiny, Egypt’s Minister of Housing, Utilities, and Urban Communities, held a meeting today with Engineer Abdel-Motleb Mamdouh, Governor of Luxor, at the New Taiba City Authority headquarters. The meeting focused on the progress of various sectors and the status of ongoing developmental projects in the city. The session was attended by Dr. Sid Ismail, Deputy Minister; Engineer Amin Ghoneim, Deputy Head of the New Urban Communities Authority for Development and Urban Planning; Dr. Mohamed Hassan, CEO of the Drinking Water and Sanitation Regulatory Agency; Engineer Mostafa Said, Head of New Taiba City Authority; as well as officials from the Authority and the Minister’s technical office.
During the meeting, the Minister emphasized the need for setting specific and accelerated timelines to expedite the completion of ongoing projects. He urged the assessment of demand for medium- and luxury housing projects in the city and highlighted the importance of involving the private sector in these developments. Additionally, he called for coordination between the Planning and Projects Sector of the New Urban Communities Authority, the General Authority for Tourism Development, and Luxor Governorate regarding the tourism resort project in the Al-Tod area, ensuring that comprehensive planning aligns with the city’s layout concerning roads, utilities, and execution plans.
The Minister and the Governor also listened to a detailed presentation from Engineer Mostafa Said on the land-use plan for New Taiba City, the available investment lands, and the investment plan for the fiscal year 2024/2025 across various sectors. They reviewed the status of ongoing utilities projects, the operational status of service projects, the drinking water and sanitation system, as well as the city’s financial status (revenues and expenses).
