Engineer Sherif El-Sherbiny, Minister of Housing, Utilities, and Urban Communities, met with Major General Mohamed El-Zamlout, Governor of New Valley, to discuss cooperation in the fields of drinking water and sanitation. The meeting was attended by officials from the Ministry and relevant authorities. During the discussions, Minister El-Sherbiny affirmed his readiness to support the governorate in its ongoing housing projects.
The meeting addressed the Ministry of Housing’s current projects in the governorate, including a review of the implementation status of drinking water and sewage treatment plants. The Minister gave directives to accelerate the pace of work to complete these projects promptly.
Particular focus was given to the expansion of the wastewater treatment plant in El Kharga city, where the first phase—operating at a capacity of 30,000 m³/day—has been completed, and preparations are underway for the second phase, which will have a capacity of 15,000 m³/day.
At the conclusion of the meeting, it was emphasized that all completed stations must be immediately put into operation to ensure that residents benefit from the services and that any challenges hindering operations are swiftly addressed.
