Engineer Sherif El-Sherbini, Minister of Housing, Utilities, and Urban Communities, participated in the first discussion session titled “Prospects for Real Estate Development and Tourism Development” as part of the activities of the Egyptian-Gulf Trade and Investment Forum. The forum was held in Cairo on November 10th and 11th of the current month.
The forum was held under the slogan “A Roadmap Towards Enhancing Egyptian-Gulf Economic Cooperation,” jointly organized by the Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the General Secretariat of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), in cooperation with various entities such as the Ministry of Investment and Foreign Trade, the Federation of Egyptian Chambers of Commerce, the Federation of GCC Chambers of Commerce and Industry, and the General Authority for Investment and Free Zones.
The session discussed the available opportunities for developing the real estate sector in Egypt, highlighting areas such as the establishment and management of hotels, residential and administrative units, and healthcare facilities.

It was attended by prominent figures from the real estate and tourism sectors, including Tariq Shoukry, Head of the Real Estate Investment Chamber; Hossam Al-Shaer, Head of the Federation of Tourist Chambers; Khaled bin Abdulrahman Al Dughaim, Head of the Gulf Association for Tourism Media; and Sheikh Naif bin Eid Al Thani, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Qatari Retaj Group. The discussion was moderated by Dr. Kamal Al Hamad, Secretary-General of the Gulf Commercial Arbitration Center.
In his speech, Engineer Sherif El-Sherbini expressed his pride in participating, welcomed the attendees, and emphasized the importance of this event, which brings together an elite group of experts and investors with the aim of achieving a shared vision for building a modern and sustainable Egypt.
He clarified that the state is undergoing a major transformation phase characterized by formulating a comprehensive developmental vision that seeks to develop infrastructure, improve the quality of life, and present an urban identity that reflects the aspirations of the people.
He pointed out that national plans have made urban development a fundamental axis encompassing the housing, work and production, services, tourism, and culture sectors, thereby achieving sustainable development goals.
He stressed the commitment of the Ministry of Housing to turning the vision of the New Republic into a tangible reality through the implementation of smart and sustainable city projects and the development of logistical industrial and touristic areas to support attracting investments and ensuring a balanced distribution of development throughout the country.
The Minister praised the significant urban progress achieved in recent years thanks to the cooperation between the public and private sectors, explaining that the ministry is adopting an integrated plan aimed at creating sustainable and smart cities and improving the urban fabric of existing cities to make citizens’ lives better.
He also reviewed two initiatives: “Decent Life,” which focuses on developing the Egyptian countryside and its infrastructure, and “Housing for All Egyptians,” which aims to provide affordable housing for middle and low-income segments. He referred to the major achievement of constructing more than one million subsidized housing units equipped with basic utilities.
