The Ministry of Local Development announced the execution of surprise inspection campaigns across several districts in Cairo, which resulted in the immediate removal of unauthorized floors and unlicensed buildings. These actions come in implementation of directives from Dr. Manal Awad, Minister of Local Development, to firmly confront building violations.
According to a report issued by the Ministry’s Inspection, Oversight, and Follow-up Sector, the campaigns targeted the districts of Sayyida Zeinab, Hadaeq Al-Qubba, and Ain Shams, where several cases of illegal construction were detected.
In Sayyida Zeinab, unauthorized buildings were removed immediately, construction materials were confiscated, and legal measures were taken against the violators.
In Hadaeq Al-Qubba, inspection committees identified illegal construction in a building located on Qassem Amin Street. The owner had obtained a license to construct only a ground floor and four additional floors, but he exceeded the permit and built up to the ninth floor. The excess floors were removed on the spot during the committee’s visit, in coordination with district authorities and relevant agencies.
In Ain Shams, an illegal construction was discovered at building No. 10 on Abu Hashish Street. Authorities immediately halted the work and removed the violating floors. Equipment and building materials were confiscated, and legal procedures were initiated against those responsible.
The Minister of Local Development affirmed that the state will not tolerate any violations related to illegal construction. She emphasized that immediate removal procedures will continue to protect structural safety and preserve public rights. She also stressed the importance of adhering to building laws and regulations, and of maintaining surprise campaigns across all governorates to detect and address violations.
