Engineer Sherif El-Sherbiny, Minister of Housing, Utilities, and Urban Communities, announced the official opening of the fourth section of the Siwa/Marsa Matrouh dual carriageway, which extends for 50 kilometers. This milestone brings half of the total road—150 kilometers—into full operational service. Major General Mahmoud Nassar, Head of the Central Agency for Reconstruction, confirmed that the agency is executing multiple projects across various governorates, spanning roads, services, and housing sectors. He further noted that the Siwa/Marsa Matrouh project involves the construction of a 300-kilometer concrete-paved road with a width of 11.25 meters, built to withstand the heavy loads of vehicles and trucks.
The Head of the Central Agency for Reconstruction emphasized the strategic importance of the Siwa/Marsa Matrouh dual carriageway in stimulating traffic and trade, improving operational efficiency, and increasing transport capacity. The project aims to strengthen the connection between Siwa Oasis and the development zones along the Northwestern Coast, facilitating the movement of people and goods, while also promoting the creation of new urban communities.
This initiative also represents the first concrete road project in the region and includes engineering works to protect the road against flood hazards. The entire project has been divided into six sections, each 50 kilometers long, and includes foundation layers, earthworks, and a three-lane concrete pavement.
