The Ministry of Housing has announced the immediate withdrawal of housing units from individuals who fail to comply with the terms of the social housing contract. This decision is part of ongoing efforts to regulate the housing market and ensure that financial support reaches those who truly deserve it. This initiative comes alongside the launch of the Housing for All Egyptians 5 project, where booking has been opened to all citizens, including people of determination, with the availability of the terms booklet in 358 automated post offices nationwide.
The Ministry has outlined the cases that could lead to the withdrawal of housing units, including the following:
-
Renting out the housing unit without obtaining written approval from the New Urban Communities Authority (NUCA), is considered a serious violation that may result in eviction.
-
Failure to take possession of the unit within the agreed timeframe, allows the Social Housing and Mortgage Finance Fund to take immediate action to cancel the allocation.
-
Forgery in application documents, which will result in the immediate withdrawal of the unit without exceptions, alongside legal action against those involved in fraudulent activities.
-
Using the unit for non-residential purposes, such as converting it into a commercial or administrative space, will also lead to its withdrawal.
-
Transferring ownership of the unit to another person without prior written approval from the New Urban Communities Authority will result in withdrawal as well.
In this context, the Ministry of Housing has confirmed the formation of judicial committees dedicated to conducting regular inspection campaigns on social housing units. The Ministry will take the necessary legal actions against violators, which may include withdrawing the housing unit and reclaiming any financial support provided.
