Housing Ministry Explores Smart and Sustainable Solutions

Dr. Sayed Ismail, Deputy Minister of Housing, Utilities, and Urban Communities, held a meeting at the ministry’s headquarters in the New Administrative Capital with officials from leading global companies, including Siemens, Petrojet, and Major Soft. The discussion focused on implementing smart and sustainable systems in new cities, such as New Cairo and New Alamein, in line with the directives of Minister Sheref El-Sherbini.

Key Objectives of the Meeting

The meeting aimed to finalize the steps for incorporating smart solutions to enhance service quality in new cities. Dr. Ismail emphasized the importance of using modern, intelligent systems to ensure efficient operation of utilities, reduce water losses, and monitor water production and distribution.

Discussion on New Alamein’s Smart Systems

The discussion included the application of smart technologies in New Alamein, exploring pilot models to simulate the city’s infrastructure. The focus was on integrating these technologies to monitor and improve network efficiency, connect all services into a single system, and develop scenarios for various situations to train staff and provide better services to citizens.

Capacity Building and Field Visits

The companies presented a draft plan to enhance the skills of staff in new city authorities, ensuring they stay abreast of the latest ideas and technologies for operating and maintaining utilities. Dr. Ismail stressed the ministry’s commitment to building staff capacity, particularly in new cities.

The meeting concluded with an agreement to organize a field visit to New Alamein to assess existing facilities and systems. The goal is to implement a successful model using the proposed smart systems, monitor and evaluate its performance, and then expand the model to other new cities, ensuring each is tailored to its unique needs.

Regular coordination meetings between all parties involved were also emphasized to ensure the successful implementation of these initiatives.
