Prime Minister Dr. Mostafa Madbouly inspected the coastal barrier and beach protection project during his visit to a number of development projects in Alexandria.
In televised remarks, Madbouly expressed his happiness about visiting Alexandria, noting that the visit began with a presentation of the governorate’s development projects. He also praised a new initiative to cooperate with the private sector to accelerate Alexandria’s integration into the Universal Health Insurance System. This would be achieved through the establishment of advanced clinics utilizing artificial intelligence as an alternative to primary healthcare units, in coordination with relevant authorities.
The Prime Minister highlighted a directive issued in this regard, mandating a comprehensive survey of all collapsing buildings for which full demolition orders have been issued. The goal is to implement a full replacement project for these units in Alexandria, following the model of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi’s initiative to provide alternative housing for those affected by amendments to the old rent law.
Madbouly explained that a similar initiative is currently being implemented in Alexandria to construct replacement units for buildings that are structurally unsafe and have received demolition orders.
Dr. Mostafa Madbouly added that the Minister of Housing, Utilities, and Urban Communities, in cooperation with the Governor of Alexandria, will present a comprehensive plan for this initiative. It is estimated that around 55,000 residential units will be needed to accommodate residents of the roughly 7,500 old buildings in Alexandria that have been issued demolition orders. He noted that this project will be part of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi’s broader initiative to develop old neighborhoods in the governorate.
