Following a meeting with the companies responsible for implementing the project, Engineer Sherif El-Sherbiny, Minister of Housing, Utilities, and Urban Communities, conducted an inspection tour to monitor the progress of ongoing construction work at the “Sawari” urban development project located in the West Carrefour area of Alexandria. He was accompanied by officials from the ministry, the New Urban Communities Authority, and the head of the New Rashid City Authority, who oversees the project that includes the construction of 64 residential towers housing 3,068 apartment units and 310 villas.
During the tour, the Minister reviewed infrastructure and roadwork activities on site. He emphasized the need to complete all remaining site coordination works, with a special focus on operational readiness and maintenance. He also stressed that units must not be handed over to beneficiaries until all related tasks—such as lighting, landscaping, and general site finishing—are fully completed, ensuring the units are delivered in a comprehensive and integrated manner.
The Minister also instructed the ministry’s project team to regularly follow up on all phases of construction and reiterated the importance of adhering to the timelines agreed upon by the implementing companies. He underscored the necessity of delivering the units according to approved specifications and quality standards to ensure the satisfaction of the allottees.
The “Sawari” project is considered one of the flagship initiatives aimed at offering diverse housing options and investment services, while simultaneously promoting developmental projects across Alexandria Governorate. The first major component of the project involves the New Urban Communities Authority constructing 64 towers under the name “Sawari Towers,” comprising 3,068 residential units over an area of 60 feddans. This is part of the first phase, which spans a total area of 120 feddans. These towers are designed to be a luxury residential community, with unit sizes ranging between 130 and 280 square meters. Additionally, the project includes a villa zone spread across 57 feddans, containing 310 standalone villas, with infrastructure and roadwork already underway to create a fully integrated environment.
The second major component focuses on regional development through partnership-based projects on 250 feddans of land within the Sawari urban development area in West Carrefour, Alexandria. This public-private partnership includes a wide range of investment ventures comprising residential, commercial, administrative, and educational facilities, executed in collaboration with 20 real estate developers. The phase also features a commercial zone and a sports club over an area of 29.73 feddans, adding to the amenities that enhance the overall quality of life in the region.
