Housing Minister Stresses Timely Completion of the “Great Transfiguration” Development Project in Saint Catherine

Minister of Housing, Utilities, and Urban Communities, Engineer Sherif El-Sherbiny, emphasized the need to adhere to the scheduled timelines for completing the Great Transfiguration development project in Saint Catherine’s City, also known as the Land of Peace.

During an extensive meeting with construction companies involved in the project, El-Sherbiny reviewed detailed timelines for various project components. He directed full coordination among all stakeholders to accelerate progress and ensure smooth execution.

The Minister highlighted the project’s national significance, noting that it is being closely monitored by President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi. The development aims to enhance this unique historical and religious site, making it more accessible to visitors from around the world while preserving its environmental and cultural heritage.

The project’s objectives include protecting and improving the area, balancing sustainable development with environmental conservation, and showcasing its global spiritual and historical significance. By maximizing the site’s exceptional potential, the initiative aims to position Saint Catherine as a premier international religious and heritage tourism destination.

El-Sherbiny reviewed the progress of various elements within the project, including:

  • Visitor Center & Peace Square – A new welcoming hub for tourists.
  • Wadi El-Deir Development – Enhancing the valley surrounding the historic monastery.
  • Eco-Lodges – New and upgraded environmentally friendly accommodations.
  • Mountain Hotel & Hilltop Resort – Premium lodging options for tourists.
  • VIP Guesthouse & Tourist Bazaars – Facilities to cater to high-profile visitors.
  • Al-Zaytouna Residential District & Government Complex – New housing and administrative infrastructure.
  • Social Club & Bedouin Housing Development – Enhancing community living standards.
  • Heritage Village & Wadi El-Arbaeen Development – Preserving local traditions and history.
  • Tourist Walkway & Road Infrastructure – Creating a scenic and functional visitor experience.
  • Flood Protection & Utilities – Strengthening infrastructure to mitigate natural risks.
  • Saint Catherine Airport Road & Security Complex – Improving accessibility and safety.
  • Power Grid & Water Supply Enhancements – Ensuring sustainable utilities for the region.

El-Sherbiny reaffirmed the government’s commitment to completing the project with the highest quality standards, reinforcing Egypt’s position as a global destination for spiritual and heritage tourism.
