The Minister of Housing, Utilities, and Urban Communities, Engineer Sherif El-Sherbiny, has begun an inspection tour in the Northwestern North Coast, where he visited the new Ras El Hekma area to follow up on the implementation of road and utility works. He was accompanied by several ministry officials and representatives from the New Urban Communities Authority.
The Minister also inspected infrastructure works in the Shams El Hekma area, which has been allocated for residents with prior presence in Ras El Hekma. During the visit, the Head of the City Development Authority presented the project details, which include the implementation of potable water, irrigation, and sewage networks. The area spans 1,800 feddans and comprises residential and service zones.
Minister Sherif El-Sherbiny further examined infrastructure works in Shams El Hekma, where Engineer Waleed Abdel Rahman Haggagy provided a detailed overview of the project. This includes the construction of potable water, irrigation, firefighting, and sewage systems, as well as the first phase of a wastewater treatment plant. Covering 1,800 feddans, the area is planned to host residential, service, and commercial zones with a fully integrated main road network. A public experimental school is also being constructed as part of the local services.
Engineer Sherif El-Sherbiny emphasized the importance of accelerating the implementation of road and utility networks and increasing manpower and equipment on-site to improve citizens’ quality of life. He also inspected electricity works in the alternative housing area, where 500 meters of cable pathways have been dug, 430 electricity poles installed, power activated in the distribution room, and 47 electric meters set up. These efforts fall under the Ministry of Housing’s continuous supervision of urban development projects in strategic areas like the North Coast.
