Engineer Sherif El-Sherbiny, Minister of Housing, Utilities, and Urban Communities, and Major General Emad Kadwany, Governor of Minya, conducted a field tour to inspect drinking water and sanitation projects under the “Decent Life” initiative. The visit included the wastewater treatment plant in Bartabat village and the water purification plant in Bani Wallems village, in addition to four other stations. During a meeting held in the governorate, the Minister emphasized the need to accelerate work progress and adhere to the set project timelines, stressing the importance of cooperation among all concerned entities.
The Minister of Housing and the Governor of Minya reviewed the operational status of the drinking water system in the governorate, which includes 197 stations producing a total of 9,898,325 cubic meters daily, achieving a coverage rate of up to 98%. Additionally, 81,801 prepaid water meters have been installed.

The sanitation system was also reviewed, consisting of 101 treatment plants with a daily output of 188,249 cubic meters of treated wastewater. Furthermore, the meeting discussed the projects led by the Drinking Water and Sanitation Company under the “Decent Life” initiative, which aims to develop 192 villages through enhancements in water and sanitation networks and plant upgrades.
The Minister and the Governor also examined ongoing sanitation projects being implemented to serve 192 villages as part of the first phase of the presidential initiative “Decent Life” across several districts. They also reviewed the achievements of the National Authority for Drinking Water and Sanitation in Minya Governorate from 2014 to 2025, which include the construction of 10 drinking water stations and 3 wastewater treatment projects.
In addition, the Minister and the Governor followed up on the progress of the second phase of the initiative, which aims to serve 99 villages in the centers of Samalout and Beni Mazar. They also reviewed investment plan projects that include 8 drinking water stations and 13 sanitation projects in rural areas.
