Eng. Sherif El-Sherbiny, Minister of Housing, Utilities, and Urban Communities, began his inspection tour today of the “Great Transfiguration” site development project on the Land of Peace in the city of Saint Catherine, Sinai. The minister commenced his tour by inspecting the new Saint Catherine transformer station, which has a capacity of 75 MVA. The station has been energized in the presence of several officials from the Ministry and the Central Agency for Reconstruction.
The Minister of Housing and his accompanying delegation also toured the station’s components, including the control room. He reviewed the site landscaping works and listened to a detailed briefing on all the components of the station, emphasizing the importance of completing all landscaping work and energizing all parts of the project.
The project includes supplying electricity to the city of Saint Catherine and involves the construction of a new transformer station with a capacity of 75 MVA. It also includes the implementation of a 220 kV overhead transmission line extending 100 kilometers from the Nuweiba station to Saint Catherine. Additionally, the project involves the execution of a 123 km medium-voltage network, the expansion of the Nuweiba station by adding switchgear and a reactor with a capacity of 25 MVA, as well as the construction of transformer and distribution buildings and the installation of underground cables.
