Engineer Sherif El-Sherbiny, Egypt’s Minister of Housing, Utilities, and Urban Communities, announced the construction of 5,194 residential units for low- and middle-income citizens as part of the presidential initiative “Housing for All Egyptians.” Additionally, 1,262 Nubian houses are being built in Aswan under the supervision of the Ministry’s Construction and Contracting Sector during 2024.
The minister emphasized that these projects aim to provide affordable housing options while addressing the demand for quality homes. The initiative also supports job creation and improves living conditions by replacing hazardous homes for Nubian communities, following the directives of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi.
The “Housing for All Egyptians” initiative focuses on offering housing solutions tailored to citizens’ income levels. The Ministry’s strategy includes three tiers: luxury housing for higher-income groups at market prices, affordable housing for middle-income groups, and subsidized housing for low-income citizens.
Engineer Hesham Darwish, head of the Construction and Contracting Sector, detailed that 950 units were built in Kafr El-Sheikh, 936 in Port Said – Port Fouad, and 29 in Kom Ombo, Aswan, for low-income residents. Middle-income housing projects include 360 units in the Red Sea Governorate and 2,856 units in Port Fouad, Port Said.
Furthermore, the sector has completed the renovation of 72 Nubian homes and is progressing with 1,190 additional houses in the Nubia area of Aswan. The initiative also includes site landscaping, utility connections for water, sanitation, and electricity, as well as the construction of service buildings in select locations.
