Engineer Amin Masoud, Member of Parliament and Secretary of the Housing Committee, has called on citizens across all governorates to ensure the legal status and structural integrity of buildings before purchasing housing units, emphasizing the importance of reviewing the property’s official permits.
In his statement today, Engineer Masoud expressed appreciation and respect for Dr. Ibrahim Saber, Governor of Cairo, for the clear and firm warnings he issued to citizens, urging them to exercise caution before purchasing or renting any housing units. He stressed the importance of consulting local municipalities or relevant authorities to verify the existence of official permits for any property in order to protect citizens’ investments.
He also called on the government, particularly Prime Minister Dr. Mostafa Madbouly and Minister of Local Development Dr. Manal Awad, to issue immediate directives to all governors to raise public awareness on this issue, following the example set by Dr. Ibrahim Saber.
Engineer Amin Masoud further urged the government to instruct governors to conduct a comprehensive survey of all violating buildings, which should not be bought or rented as they were constructed without permits and in violation of the law. He pointed out that such buildings cannot be reconciled with under the Building Violations Reconciliation Law due to their non-compliance. He emphasized the need to publish a list of these violating properties across various media platforms so that citizens can avoid engaging with them.
