The inspection ensured readiness to confront winter crises and emergencies, reviewing equipment and personnel. This effort aligns with Eng’s directives. Sherif El-Sherbiny, Minister of Housing, Utilities, and Urban Communities, regularly monitors ongoing projects in new cities and prepares for potential crises and disasters during the winter season.
The head of the authority emphasized that precautionary measures and necessary preparations have been taken to address weather-related natural phenomena. Relevant departments began early preparations for the winter season by implementing proactive measures and coordinating with the city’s main emergency and disaster room around the clock.
Eng. Ashraf Fathy highlighted the importance of equipping all vehicles operated by the maintenance and development companies with tracking units linked to the main emergency room. This ensures that companies execute their assigned tasks per the action plan and respond promptly to emergency intervention requests.
He also noted that the status of the city’s pumping stations has been reviewed, confirming the readiness of various equipment. Maintenance work for generators at all stations and alternative power sources was checked. Additionally, the operation and maintenance of the city’s sewage lines and networks are being diligently carried out.

Eng. Ashraf Fathy Mahmoud also visited the tunnel site beneath the coastal road in front of Horus University to initiate work on improving the tunnel and adjacent streets. This project aims to serve residents and university students by preventing traffic congestion on the coastal road in front of the university. The inspection reflects the authority’s commitment to quickly addressing citizen and resident complaints.
Water Network Replacement and Pressure Testing
Furthermore, the authority head inspected the replacement and renovation of the city’s water networks, including the pressure testing of a 500-mm drinking water pipeline. He stressed the need to complete these projects quickly, adhering to specifications and the scheduled timeline.
