Eng. Ali Saad, Head of the 15th of May City Development Authority, conducted an inspection tour to monitor the progress of the project’s final phase to protect the city and its eastern expansions from flood risks. Eng accompanied him. Said El-Shafie, Deputy Head of the Authority, Eng. Ahmed Mohamed Emam, Assistant to the Head of the Authority, Eng. Mohamed Mansour, Director of the Utilities Department, and Eng. Ahmed Salah from the Utilities Department. This visit is part of ongoing efforts to improve the city’s infrastructure and improve its services.
During the tour, the Head of the Authority highlighted that the ongoing works include the completion of reinforced concrete structures for industrial works such as culverts and the excavation and backfilling along the entire course of the open drainage channel. Additionally, the project involves the completion of stone embankments to protect the channel’s side slopes. He emphasized the importance of adhering to the specified timeline to complete the project while ensuring the highest quality standards to protect the city from flood hazards.
He explained that these efforts are part of a comprehensive plan to transform the city into a model for new urban developments. The project seeks to enhance the city’s ability to withstand floods and minimize potential future damages, particularly in light of the severe flood that hit the Zarayeb area in March 2020, causing significant damage.
At the end of the tour, Eng. Ahmed Emam, Assistant to the Head of the Authority, reaffirmed that the city’s infrastructure development reflects the state’s commitment to improving living standards and providing a safe and well-equipped urban environment for its residents.
