Major General Ashraf El-Gendy, Governor of Gharbia, has approved the official urban boundaries for a number of hamlets across various centers in the governorate, while also initiating the implementation of updated strategic plans for all villages. This move is part of a comprehensive strategy aimed at ensuring urban stability and providing a safe, legally compliant environment for construction in line with the state’s vision for sustainable development.
The governorate has now achieved 100% approval of urban boundaries for cities and villages, and 97.6% for hamlets, enabling residents to build legally in accordance with the approved regulations. A field committee composed of eight task forces working around the clock has been established to follow up on the implementation of these measures.
El-Gendy praised the field teams’ efforts, emphasizing that the official approval and registration of the urban boundaries and coordinates will allow citizens to obtain building permits in accordance with the law, contributing to well-regulated urban expansion.
The Governor also instructed the swift development of zoning lines and the determination of building requirements for the newly added urban clusters in 321 villages across the governorate. With this, Gharbia becomes the first governorate to fully complete this file, paving the way for a new phase in rural urban development.
He explained that the strategic plans have been prepared based on precise standards that account for current circumstances while also incorporating a forward-looking vision for urban expansion. These plans also regulate building heights based on the nature of each area, and have been approved by the Armed Forces Operations Authority.
This initiative provides a clear and legal construction roadmap for residents, supports efforts to curb informal settlements, and fosters balanced development that enhances the quality of life in both rural and urban areas.
Governor El-Gendy affirmed that this achievement reflects a collective effort and a strong commitment to serving citizens and implementing the state’s vision for achieving urban stability and sustainable development in Gharbia.
