The governor emphasized the need for coordination among all concerned parties to obtain the necessary approvals, thus expediting the process and enabling immediate commencement of works.
New Water Station in Abu Rawash
Engineer Adel Al-Naggar highlighted the importance of allocating a plot of land for the construction of a main water treatment plant in the Abu Rawash area, with a total capacity of 250,000 cubic meters. The first phase will be executed with a capacity of 150,000 cubic meters, aiming to resolve water cuts and low-pressure issues affecting several areas within Giza Governorate.
Encouraging Private Sector Participation
The governor also called for exploring mechanisms to engage the private sector in constructing a combined wastewater and industrial sewage treatment plant within the Abu Rawash industrial zone. The proposed facility will have an initial capacity of 20,000 cubic meters. This approach is intended to develop designs aligned with factory operation needs, contributing to improved water quality, stimulating industrial activity, and directly supporting investors.
Environmental Sampling and Cost Analysis
The governor tasked the head of the Executive Authority of the Industrial Zone with collaborating with the Water and Wastewater Company to collect samples from factory effluents to identify pollutants and catalog the operational factories in Abu Rawash. Additionally, he directed a study into the treatment cost per cubic meter of wastewater based on each factory’s activity, and the potential use of treated water for irrigating the investment zone, maximizing utility in coordination with relevant authorities.
Infrastructure Development Plan
Governor Al-Naggar instructed the governorate’s consultant to swiftly prepare designs for water pumping stations, discharge and slope lines, new well stations, and the replacement of asbestos pipelines as part of the initial phase. He praised the ongoing cooperation between the governorate, the Ministries of Housing and Finance, and the executing entities, affirming that this collaboration contributes to improving the infrastructure of water and sewage services and supports developmental projects across the governorate.
Support for Industrial Zones and Investment Facilitation
The governor reaffirmed his support for industrial zones and the removal of obstacles facing investors. He emphasized the importance of upgrading water and sewage services to stimulate industrial growth and attract investments. It was agreed that a joint coordination committee would be formed, comprising representatives from the governorate, the Ministry of Finance, and the Water and Wastewater Company. This committee will prepare bidding documents for private sector participation and oversee project implementation.
