Engineer Sherif El-Sherbiny, Minister of Housing, inspected the “Fustat Hills Park” project in Old Cairo, which spans an area of 500 feddans. He was accompanied by Major General Engineer Mahmoud Nassar and officials from the ministry. The tour included the investment zone, which covers an area of 131,000 m² and overlooks Ain El-Hayat Lake. This zone features 12 restaurants, 4 commercial malls, and 4 parking garages. It also includes a Roman-style theater, a water fountain, and an adventure area comprising service buildings, lakes, and landscaped areas.
The Minister of Housing reviewed the work progress in both the cultural zone and the river zone. The cultural zone, located opposite the main gate of the Fustat Hills Park project, includes a central axis leading to the Civilization Museum, cultural activity squares, and restaurants. Plans are also in place to hold year-round celebrations. The works in this area include the construction of a main gate, four restaurants and cafés, three fountains, infrastructure works, and landscaping across an area of 26,864 m².
The minister also inspected the adventure zone, which includes service buildings and lakes. This zone features a playground area and 3 service buildings, including a children’s play building covering 505 m², a restroom facility spanning 167 m², and utility and site coordination works across a total area of 97,238 m².
The Minister of Housing toured the hills and valley zone, which comprises three hills and a waterway. Al-Qasaba Hill includes a hotel, service facilities, and an artificial lake. The Excavation Hill is being converted into an archaeological attraction featuring remnants of the historic city of Fustat and a 1 km walking trail. The Heritage Gardens Hill contains terraced areas, restaurants, and a wooden deck overlooking the lake.
The Minister emphasized the need to accelerate progress on the Fustat Hills Park project in Old Cairo, stressing the importance of adhering to the set timeline, regularly removing construction waste, and increasing the workforce. He also instructed officials from the Central Agency for Reconstruction to take the necessary measures to ensure the project’s timely completion, reaffirming his full support for their efforts.
