Engineer Sherif El-Sherbiny, Minister of Housing, Utilities, and Urban Communities, announced an extension for payment of booking down payments under the presidential initiative “Housing for All Egyptians 5”. The deadline for online registration through the fund’s website (www.shmff.gov.eg) has been extended to January 15, 2025, while the purchase of terms and conditions booklets will close on Tuesday, December 31, 2024.
Mai Abdel Hamid, CEO of the Social Housing and Mortgage Finance Fund, stated that this decision aims to provide all citizens who have purchased the booklets but were unable to complete payment or upload their documents on the website with sufficient time to finalize their application and secure a chance to reserve a housing unit.
Abdel Hamid highlighted the strong response to the initiative, with approximately 755,000 booklets sold, 547,000 citizens paying booking down payments, and 411,000 registering through the fund’s website.
The dedicated online platform for resolving application issues (https://cservices.shmff.gov.eg/ChangeUnit/PortalTickets) remains active. Since its launch, it has received 14,942 complaints, resolving 11,261 so far, with ongoing efforts to address all issues promptly. Citizens can report problems by entering their national ID and phone number on the platform and selecting the nature of their issue.
Most complaints involve forgotten passwords, existing system requests that cannot be updated, or lack of details regarding previous applications. The platform was designed to ease the process for citizens facing technical issues, providing a free service without replacing the primary website used for document submission.
For more information, citizens can access the fund’s official platforms on Facebook, YouTube, Twitter, Instagram, Threads, and TikTok. Additionally, queries and suggestions can be directed to the complaints portal (https://cservices.shmff.gov.eg/SHAKWA) or through customer service numbers: 5999, 5777, 1188 (mobile), or 090071117 (landline).
This extension reflects the government’s commitment to ensuring accessibility and inclusivity for all citizens in securing quality housing.
