Engineer Sherif El-Sherbiny, Minister of Housing, Utilities, and Urban Communities, together with Minister Sherif Fathy, Minister of Tourism and Antiquities, and Engineer Adel El-Naggar, Governor of Giza, held an extensive meeting at the headquarters of the Ministry of Housing in the New Administrative Capital.
The main objective was to follow up on the latest developments in preparing the strategic master plan for the area extending from Sphinx International Airport to the Saqqara Pyramid, including the Giza Pyramids area and the Grand Egyptian Museum.
The project aims to develop the area and elevate its touristic and urban standards to secure a distinguished global position on the international tourism map.
The meeting was attended by the international consultancy firm WATG, in addition to senior officials from both ministries, the governorate, executive authorities, and relevant stakeholders.
Engineer Sherif El-Sherbiny opened the meeting by welcoming the attendees and highlighting the importance of the project, which is closely monitored by the political leadership.
He stressed that developing this area is part of the state’s vision to modernize tourist zones and make them accessible for investment to ensure optimal utilization.
He emphasized that all studies must cover every detail and criterion related to the project, along with setting a clear timetable for all work phases.
The minister pointed out that the meeting enhances community participation and focuses on enabling the private sector to contribute to shaping a comprehensive development vision for the project.
The goal is to establish an integrated tourist destination that supports the economy and achieves the principles of sustainable development.
He explained that several workshops had been held to align the master plan with international standards, aiming to strike a balance between heritage preservation and development.

The workshops also discussed proposed investment opportunities in hospitality, entertainment, and cultural sectors, with the participation of private companies and developers.
Innovative partnership models were also presented to support the plan’s implementation and ensure its objectives are met.
The minister further added that development plans must consider expected tourist flows and varying levels of visitor demand.
He stressed the need to study projected tourist nights, which form the basis for a diverse accommodation strategy that includes traditional hotels, serviced apartments, and luxury units to meet the needs of different types of tourists.
He also highlighted the importance of enhancing tourist appeal, providing integrated services that meet visitors’ expectations, and involving the local community in these efforts to ensure sustainable economic and social benefits.
Dr. Abdel Khaleq Ibrahim, Assistant Minister of Housing for Technical Affairs, reviewed the efforts made in tourism and urban development of the area.
He discussed the outcomes of workshops held in cooperation with WATG, which focused on improving the quality of the tourism product and reinforcing its integration with other forms of tourism.
He also presented plans for market enhancement through innovative investment models that raise the technical efficiency of implementation.
The meeting also featured a presentation from representatives of WATG, which addressed projected tourism growth in the area, as well as investment opportunities in sectors such as hospitality, retail, entertainment, and cultural activities.
