President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi received a phone call from Antonio Costa, President of the European Council, during which both sides emphasized the importance of coordination between Egypt and the European Union on regional and international issues. The conversation addressed ways to enhance cooperation and deepen the strategic partnership between the two parties. Additionally, the call covered the latest developments in the Gaza Strip, where President El-Sisi reviewed Egypt’s efforts to reach a ceasefire agreement and facilitate a prisoner exchange. He underscored the urgent need for international pressure to stop the war and ensure the entry of humanitarian aid.
According to the official spokesperson, the call reaffirmed the necessity of intensifying efforts toward a two-state solution and the establishment of an independent Palestinian state, as this path is seen as the only route to achieving lasting peace in the region. The importance of the upcoming peace settlement conference scheduled to be held in New York later in June was also highlighted, along with the need to bolster recognition of the Palestinian state. Both leaders stressed their firm rejection of any attempts to eliminate the Palestinian cause or forcibly displace Palestinians from their land.
For his part, the President of the European Council expressed the EU’s support for Egypt’s initiatives to restore stability in the region, emphasizing that Egypt plays a fundamental role in achieving such stability.
