President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi met on Sunday with President Teodoro Obiang Nguema of Equatorial Guinea on the sidelines of the 7th Coordination Summit of the African Union, hosted by Malabo, the capital of Equatorial Guinea.
According to the official spokesperson for the Presidency of Egypt, the two presidents discussed strengthening bilateral relations and opening new avenues for cooperation across a range of sectors, especially in economic, trade, and investment fields, as well as in energy, infrastructure, and industry—areas that serve the shared interests of both nations.
Presidential Spokesman Ambassador Mohamed El-Shenawy noted that President El-Sisi praised Equatorial Guinea’s hosting of this coordination summit, affirming that it reflects the country’s commitment to enhancing joint African action.
For his part, President Obiang expressed his appreciation for Egypt’s vital role in supporting the African continent and within the African Union framework. The two leaders also explored ways to achieve continental integration across various domains.
The spokesman added that the meeting also touched on mechanisms to support stability across the African continent and ensure regional peace and security—key elements in bolstering efforts toward sustainable development.
