Egypt’s Housing Minister Approves Electrical Infrastructure Project for New Sohag Expansion

Cairo – Engineer Sheref El-Sherbiny, Egypt’s Minister of Housing, Utilities, and Urban Communities, has announced the approval of a project to implement medium and low-voltage electrical networks and street lighting for the new expansion area in New Sohag City, which spans 735 acres. This move aims to enhance services and further develop the city’s infrastructure.

The minister confirmed that the infrastructure work for the expansion area, along with other service projects in New Sohag City, is progressing on schedule.

In a related development, Engineer Sheref Abdel Badi, Head of the New Sohag City Development Authority, inspected ongoing road-paving work leading to the social housing buildings in the 735-acre expansion area. He emphasized the importance of continuous monitoring to ensure adherence to the required technical standards.

Abdel Badi also oversaw the cleaning and maintenance of drainage systems, including the installation of manhole covers in the 127-acre distinguished housing area. This effort is aimed at protecting lives and property while preventing blockages in the drainage network. Additionally, he reviewed street lighting maintenance in the 138 social housing buildings area.

During his visit, Abdel Badi inspected the administrative building and the city’s new technology center. The center’s space has been expanded to provide comfortable waiting areas for citizens, with more service windows and an automated queuing system to improve efficiency and transparency.

The technology center will also include a dedicated office for major investors to expedite their requests, further supporting investment in the city.

Abdel Badi noted that the new site for the technology center is under construction, but services will continue to be provided from the current center until the new facility is fully operational, ensuring minimal disruption for citizens.

As part of his inspection, Abdel Badi visited the recently opened Ebad El-Rahman mosque in the 138 social housing area. The mosque, covering 700 square meters, includes a women’s prayer area and a Quran memorization room, built through community efforts.

These initiatives are part of a broader strategy to develop New Sohag City, attract residents from various social levels, and improve street lighting and electrical services for the city’s southern expansion areas.
