During the ongoing World Urban Forum, Sherif El-Sharbin, Egypt’s Minister of Housing, met with Anar Quliyev, Chairman of the State Committee for Urban Planning and Architecture of Azerbaijan, along with his accompanying delegation. The meeting aimed to showcase Egypt’s urban development achievements under President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi and to explore avenues for enhancing cooperation between the two countries.
El-Sharbin warmly welcomed the high-ranking Azerbaijani delegation, expressing pride in their visit to Egypt and their participation in the 12th edition of the forum. He stated that Egypt is prepared to share its extensive experience in urban development with Azerbaijan, emphasizing the strong bilateral relations between the two nations.
The Minister outlined that Egypt’s urban development experience is rich and diverse, encompassing the establishment and development of dozens of “smart, sustainable” fourth-generation cities, along with significant advancements in drinking water and sewage projects. He highlighted that Egyptian construction companies possess extensive expertise in executing various urban development projects and have a strong presence in the African and Middle Eastern markets, making them ready to undertake projects worldwide.
In response, Anar Quliyev expressed his delight at visiting Egypt and learning about its urban development experience. He acknowledged the strong ties between Egypt and Azerbaijan, both governmentally and among the people. Quliyev praised the ongoing urban renaissance in Egypt and expressed his desire to deepen and enhance cooperation with Egypt, benefiting from its vast experience in urban development.
Quliyev also shared insights into Azerbaijan’s urban development experience, noting its similarities with Egypt’s approach. He welcomed the idea of sharing urban planning experiences between both sides and congratulated Egypt on successfully hosting the 12th World Urban Forum, praising its effective organization and preparation for the event.
