Egypt Expands Scenic Walkways to Enhance Urban Aesthetics

Eng. Amr Khattab, spokesperson for the Ministry of Housing, Utilities, and Urban Communities, highlighted the expansion of scenic walkways across Egypt. He stated that the initiative aims to create a modern, well-planned urban environment, utilizing coastal and riverfront areas for tourism, recreation, and economic opportunities.

Nationwide Implementation of Scenic Walkways

Speaking to Extra News, Khattab emphasized that Egypt’s urban development strategy now includes scenic promenades in multiple cities, such as:

  • Cairo – The Ahl Misr Walkway along the Nile
  • Aswan – A redesigned promenade along the river
  • New Alamein – A modern coastal walkway
  • New Damietta – A revitalized waterfront area

Additionally, 55 kilometers of walkways have been completed within the Green River Zone in the New Administrative Capital.

Enhancing Quality of Life and Urban Experience

Khattab explained that the walkway designs follow unified standards to accommodate:

  • Pedestrians, joggers, and cyclists
  • Rest areas and parking facilities
  • Retail spaces and public amenities

To ensure sustainability and cleanliness, professional management companies oversee maintenance, security, and services, guaranteeing a pleasant experience for visitors.

This initiative aligns with Egypt’s vision for aesthetic urban development, promoting healthy lifestyles, economic activity, and high-quality public spaces.
