Drinking Water Treatment Plant and 2,488 Housing Units Underway in Diarna and Green Housing Projects in Sadat City

The Minister of Housing, Utilities, and Urban Communities, Engineer Sherif El-Sherbiny, announced the ongoing construction of a new drinking water treatment plant and 2,488 housing units as part of the “Diarna” and “Green Housing” projects in Sadat City. This announcement was made during his inspection of housing, agriculture, road, and utility projects in the city. He emphasized the importance of adhering to standard specifications and completing the work swiftly, especially with the summer season approaching. Engineer Yasser Abdel Halim, Head of the Sadat City Development Authority, also conducted a field tour to monitor the progress of projects under the Presidential Initiative “Housing for All Egyptians” and the medium-income housing project “Diarna.”

The Head of Sadat City Authority inspected the construction sites of the Green Housing units, which include 82 buildings and 1,968 residential units, focusing on energy efficiency and reducing carbon emissions. He also followed up on road and utility development, including the expansion of the city’s central axis. A 5.2-kilometer section of the road has already been upgraded, with plans to add another 1.5 kilometers to improve traffic flow.

Additionally, landscaping and beautification efforts in the El-Nour and El-Firdous districts were reviewed, highlighting the importance of regular maintenance of green spaces to ensure their sustainability.

Officials from the Sadat City Authority also inspected the new water treatment plant, which will have a capacity of 87,000 m³/day and is being developed with an investment of EGP 988 million as part of the city’s infrastructure enhancement plan. The tour also included the raw water transmission line. The Head of the Authority stressed the importance of complying with quality standards and technical specifications, maintaining cleanliness across neighborhoods, and ensuring that these projects serve as a foundation for providing high-quality housing and services to citizens. He also underscored the need for ongoing follow-up and coordination with executing companies.
