Engineer Sherif El-Sherbiny, Minister of Housing, Utilities, and Urban Communities, conducted an on-site inspection tour of the “Sawari” urban development project located in the West Carrefour area of Alexandria. The visit is part of the ministry’s ongoing efforts to monitor progress in major national development projects.
The minister was accompanied by senior officials from the ministry, representatives from the New Urban Communities Authority (NUCA), and the head of the New Rashid City Authority, which oversees the implementation of the project. This field tour followed an extensive meeting between the minister and the contracting companies to assess the work progress and review the project’s execution commitments.
The “Sawari” project stands out as one of NUCA’s most prominent integrated urban developments in Alexandria. It includes the construction of 64 residential towers housing a total of 3,068 apartments, in addition to 310 standalone villas. The entire development spans a total area of 120 acres—60 acres are allocated to the residential towers, 57 acres to the villa zone, with the remaining areas designated for public services and utility infrastructure.
During the tour, the Minister emphasized the importance of completing the general site landscaping, which includes lighting, green spaces, and roads. He stressed that no housing units should be handed over to buyers before the full completion of the infrastructure and services, to ensure the project is delivered with high standards and an integrated, livable environment.
The minister also instructed stakeholders to strictly adhere to the set timelines and conduct daily follow-ups on execution details. He highlighted the strategic role of the Sawari project in supporting the state’s urban expansion plan by offering diverse and high-quality housing units.
It’s worth noting that the Sawari project is not limited to residential development. It also includes a large-scale development axis encompassing 250 acres, developed through a public-private partnership model. The investment land will feature mixed-use spaces including residential, commercial, administrative, and educational units. The project involves participation from 20 real estate developers and includes the creation of a commercial area and a sports and social club over an area of approximately 30 acres.
This ambitious project aims to build a modern urban community that aligns with the aspirations of Alexandria’s residents and addresses the city’s future population growth. It also ensures the availability of comprehensive services that enhance the overall quality of life.
