Engineer Ashraf Fathi Mahmoud, Head of the New Damietta City Authority, announced the implementation of two campaigns to detect and disconnect illegal water connections in the Sakan Misr site in the Sixth District. 66 illegal connections were cut off, and water pumps operating on unauthorized connections without meters were seized. These cases will be addressed by legalizing their status and requiring payment of the average consumption for the past period in addition to the cost of the meters. The operation was carried out in cooperation with the City’s Urban Development Police Department.
Engineer Ashraf Fathi emphasized the continuation of these campaigns and intensified periodic inspections around the clock to detect, disconnect, and prevent all stolen water connections. Additionally, efforts will be made to remove all encroachments on this vital facility and to collect outstanding debts and overdue payments.
In a related context, he pointed out that a comprehensive campaign was organized to remove encroachments and violations in the Second and Sixth Districts and the Central Area of New Damietta City to eliminate random and unauthorized activities. This was done in continuous coordination with the Urban Development Police Department.
He explained that the campaign resulted in issuing three administrative closure reports, disconnecting utilities, and confiscating several seized items stored in the authority’s warehouse. These included vehicles operating in unauthorized locations that did not comply with licensing regulations and lacked the necessary operating permits and approvals.
