Dr. Sayed Ismail, Deputy Minister of Housing, Utilities, and Urban Communities, held a session to review progress on the implementation of Phase Two projects under the Sustainable Rural Sanitation Services Program in Sharkia Governorate.
The meeting was attended by Eng. Ahmed Gaber, Chairman of the Holding Company for Water and Wastewater, along with officials from Arab Contractors Company, representatives of the Project Management Unit at the Ministry of Housing, and representatives of the Project Implementation Unit at the Sharkia Water and Wastewater Company.
The meeting included a detailed review of the progress of the wastewater project in the Kafr Dabous area, which is being executed by the Arab Contractors. The project includes networks, pumping stations, and force mains serving 10 rural zones across villages and hamlets.
During the discussion, the challenges facing implementation were identified, and practical solutions were proposed to overcome them. A time plan was also set with the aim of accelerating the operation of the wastewater treatment plant, which is now nearing completion.
The Deputy Minister stressed the importance of adhering to the scheduled timelines for project implementation. He also emphasized the necessity of establishing a weekly follow-up plan by all concerned parties to ensure that work proceeds according to the agreed timetable.
It is worth noting that Phase Two of the Sustainable Rural Sanitation Services Program—financed in cooperation with the World Bank and the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank—aims to improve sanitation services in six governorates: Dakahlia, Sharkia, Beheira, and Gharbia, in addition to two other governorates.
